Well I had an interesting week to say the least...

For the past four weeks I have been experiencing really bad stomach pains (at least once a week). I figured it was gas pains so I would take mylanta, go to sleep, and when I'd wake up they'd be gone. Pat had bugged me to go to the doctor but since I couldn't find a common denominator, I told him not to worry about it and that I'd be fine. Stupid stupid decision on my part.

Thursday after school I began to get a little bit of pain in my stomach so I decided to go home and take mylanta as I usually did. Around 4:00 Pat stopped by on his break from work to say hi and to see how I was doing. I told him I was having those pains again but they weren't getting as bad as they had been in the past. 8 hours later, I was in the worst pain in my life, Pat immediately left work and my mom kept trying to get me comfortable. By the time 11:00 rolled around I was exhausted and in so much pain that I told Pat I needed to get to the hospital ASAP. The entire time I was in the car with him I was crying and screaming in pain. The poor guy had to have been worried sick but he didn't let it show. He held my hand and told me everything was going to be ok. When we finally arrived at the ER I was pretty much doubled over on the floor. Even after seeing the pain I was in they kept me waiting in the waiting room for 6 hours. Lucky for me the pain began to go away after two hours but boy was I pissed. What if my apendix had burst? Talk about a law suite.

By the time I was seen and released it was 12:00 Friday afternoon. Turns out the pain may be acouple different things. A. Spastic Colan which my mom has, B. Crones disease which my brother has, C. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (and for those of you who knew my roommate Kate O'brien that is what she has) or D. Some other GI problem. They gave me a bunch of prescribtions including some oxycodine :) and sent me on my way. All day Sat. I was completely out of it and my stomach muscles were still really tight. Now it is Sunday and after sleeping almost 24 hours I am feeling much better. The school I teach at was very understanding about me not coming in to teach and just hope that I get better soon.

I was suppose to go to Christina's bridal shower Sat, but the doctor did not want me driving any long distances. Even Pat said to me "what happens if you get these pains when driving on 95? You can't function and odds are you'll crash." Though I didn't like it, I knew they were both right. Christina understood and Pat and I have agreed to take her and Blake out one weekend to celebrate.

Well that's all for now!

15 February 2008 @ 07:47 am
Happy belated Valentines day! I know it has been awhile since I've posted however, since the school blocked me from using livejournal I haven't had much time to update. Here whats been going on.

1. After New Years I invited a bunch of people over for a a little college reunion. I can honestly say that this was the first time I have ever planned a party and guess what, pretty much everyone came. Tom was in from Boston so he road up with Tim Nathan and John. Then, Yoda was in from FL so he drove in with Spencer and Corey. Shanon and Amanda were also available that weekend so they, along with Billy arrived on Saturday. Erik also came from Jersey which was a really nice surprise. It meant so much to me that my friends would drive such a long way just to come to my party. The first night (Friday) was spent drinking and playing a little beer pong. Then Saturday, Tim purchased rock band which really got the party going. I have become an expert on the guitar! Before everyone left a bunch of us went to Applebees which was a blast. Pat stopped by to meet the gang and I was thankful that everyone didn't torture him too much. While at Applebees Amanda and Tim were picking on me (as always) and Pat picked up one of his french fries and threw it at me. At that point Amanda and Tim said "any guy who is willing to give up a french fry to hit Emily is good in my book. Even Amanda told me not to let this guy get away. I thought this was a very good sign. Though it was sad to say goodbye to everyone I realized that these guys are some of my closest friends, really more like family, and even though we cannot see each other as often as we'd like, I know that we will all be together again.

2. Every year Pat and his friends get together at Timberline for a weekend of skiing and drinking. Since I had met a lot of Pat's friends they had invited me. Though it was way to cold to go skiing (5 degrees) I still had a blast. Pat and I got to spend a lot of one on one time together and I believe that it was this trip that really made our relationship grow. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub and took walks along the ski slope. I realized that I could talk to Pat about anything and everything and that I had finally found love again. Just when I was about to close my heart off to the world, Pat somehow came in and made me realize that though love has its ups and downs, it is def. worth it. Side Note: Pat and I played in the beerpong tournament and we kicked ass. We may not have won the trophy but we made it to the final three!

3. Teaching as been going well though the kids and I are going through that whole third quarter restlessness. Everyday I enter the classroom I feel like a little girl playing school. I get to spend my day living out my dream of educating todays youth (though I guess this could be a scary thought lol). Though they drive me crazy, I love my students and feel like I truly have 110 children. Since I am the youngest teacher in the school, the kids feel like they can relate to me and open up to me about all sorts of things (the good, the bad, and sometimes the ugly). I am just happy that some of my students feel like they can trust me enough to tell some of the personal stories of their lives.

4. Though I am sick (I had to call out of work today for the first time which I am still a little nervous about) Valentines Day was amazing. I knew Pat had to work both of his jobs today (real estate and then the bar) so I knew I wouldn't be seeing him. I had spent the last six days with him so though it was a little disappointing I understood that I had to share him with his boss. Anyway, yesterday morning I called him when I was on my way to work. I do this every morning so that way he gets up in time to go to work. I thought I heard him  moving around however, he told me since his fan was right by his bed it was blowing into the phone. This seemed to make sense so I didn't think too much about it. When I arrived at school I was typing on my computer when I look up to see Pat standing in front of me with a dozen red roses and a card. I was so shocked and excited at the same time that I jumped up and gave him a big hug. Then I read the card that made me teary-eyed. This boy really has swept me off my feet and I am enjoying every second of it. We are suppose to continue celebrating Valentines Day by going to North Carolina this weekend (his mom lives down there and I have always wanted to go) but of course I am sick. I am going to spend the rest of the day in bed and hopefully feel up to going.

Well I think that is all for now,
~EM~

I can honestly say that I had the best new years ever!!!!!!!!! The plan was that Pat and I were going to spend new years at the bar he works at (because he had to work) and then crash at the Hilton Hotel in Baltimore. The plan worked out better then I ever could've imagined. We checked into the hotel around 5ish and I couldn't get over the room. It had a king size bed, mini bar, flat screen tv, and an awesome shower :)  Shortly after we checked in it was off to the bar. Due to the fact that I had been to the bar before, I knew all the people he worked with which meant I didn't feel awkward sitting at the bar. Dimitri (the owner) gave me all my food on the house, and of course Pat gave me my drinks for free (ah the joys of dating a bartender).

Around 2am we returned back to our room where we ended up sleeping until 10:30am. Checkout was suppose to be at 12, but Pat called and got it changed to 1. Since we had an extra hour we decided to hit the pool and hot tub (so much fun). After we checked out we went to the hotel restaurant where we had great food and service.

Well that's the New Years update...Talk to everyone later :)

30 December 2007 @ 05:38 pm
Before I get into the update I want to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I can't believe 2007 is ending. So many things have happened this year...

1. Greg and I finally ended our relationship in January
2. I began my student teaching
3. Dad almost died in January
4. Joe graduated from High School
5. My father survived  to see his 50th birthday
6. Parents celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary
7. I graduated from college
8. Family went on their first cruise to St. Thomas, Tortola, and Bermuda
9. Amanda and Bill visited over the summer to watch High School Musical 2
10. I began teaching 7th grade at Fallston Middle School
11. Met Jamie and Matt and had some awesome jacuzzi parties
12. Met Pat
13. December 17 was the official date of when Pat and I started dating
14. December 28-30 STE party where much Rock Band was played
15. December 31 - I will be partying at the bar Pat manages (because he has to work) and then it's off to the Hilton Hotel for a romantic get away :)

I am sure a lot of other things happened but that is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Things are going very well with Pat and I. My friends from college came over this weekend and all approved him (apparently all my boyfriend has to do is agree to throw food at me and he's a winner in the eyes of the entire gang. The following people showed:

  • Tim
  • Nathan
  • Shanon
  • Amanda
  • Bill
  • Yoda
  • Corey L.
  • Spencer
  • Erik
  • John
  • Tom
  • Pat
  • Courtney
  • Veronica
  • Joe
  • Jordan
  • Tim and Kevin
Everyone seemed to have a great time. There was a lot of Rock Band and beer pong being played (Shanon and I played against Nathan and Tim. We didn't stand a chance. Oh well, there is always next year). Pat really enjoyed meeting my friends and told me that I was lucky to have so many people care about me. I guess I hadn't really thought about it until Pat said something, but I am very blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. I mean, I invited people from Boston, Florida, New Jersey, PA and WV to come to this party and they all showed up. This just shows how much of a bond my brothers and I have. It was nice having everyone together again. It felt just like old times when we would all hanging out in the living room of the STE house. I think everyone agreed that we need to do this at least twice a year. To those of you who read this and attended the party, thank you for driving to MD to see me!!!!!!! You all are the best friends a girl could have!!!!!!!!

On another note, I talked to Brit and it turns out she will be staying in China until September (they renewed her contract at Hong Kong Disney). Therefore, I think  Pat and I  are going to go visit her in July. I also found out that the person Pat lives with (he has known for about 5 years now) is leaving to go home to Greece. Apparently he owns three houses over there including a beach house on one of the private islands. He told Pat and I that if we wanted to visit we were always welcome. This guy also owns a restaurant so he told us that the only thing we would have to pay for is airfare. Who knows, this summer could be a traveling summer for Ms. Bankert :)

Well I guess that's all for now!!!

A guy was able to come along and sweep me off my feet :)  I am the happiest I have been in a long time and can't believe I am lucky enough to have such a wonderful person in my life. I guess it really is true what they say....relationships come along when you least expect them.

26 November 2007 @ 07:35 am

Right now it is 7:35am and I've got 10min before the students arrive. I am sure they are going to be hyper but I guess it's that time a year.

Thanksgiving was a little different this year then in the past. Usually we all went to my dad's parents house but since grandma is getting older my mother decided to have it at our house (we just redecorated so I am sure she wanted to show off the house). When my mother first told me this I was a little concerned because as many of you know my mother doesn't cook. Come to think of it I think I cook more then she does and thats not saying much. The day was spent in the kitchen while my dad, brother, grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousin Zach drank and watched the Dallas game. When dinner was served I was quite surprised at how good everything was. I guess my mother and I make a good team!

Friday night was Dori's birthday so Pat, Jeff (yes he was in town), Laura, Tom, Sean, Dori, and a bunch of other people headed to Fell's Point for a drunkin good time. We started off at Shuckers where we had dinner and a few drinks. From there we headed to the Greene Turtle for some more drinks and dancing! We checked out a few other places in the area but ended up right back at the Greene Turtle. For those of you who know me pretty well you know that I am not that big of a drinker and when I do get wasted it is when I am drinking somewhere where I can pass out. Therefore, I only had two long island iceteas and one dirty girl scout shot. Of course this meant that Emily turned into the babysitter.

Pat got extremely drunk to the point where Jeff and I literally had to carry him to the car. On our way to the car I noticed that Patt did not have his leather jacket which meant Sean had to go from bar to bar looking for it. It was a good thing we went back for it because it had Patt's car keys and credit cards in the pocket. Sean had rented a SUV so all 9 of us were able to ride back to Sean's house together. Once there I noticed the guys were setting up a game of beer pong. As much as I would have wanted to stay and play I knew I had to get Patt and Jeff back (though Jeff was sober he had to be at the eastern shore that morning and it was already 3am). I ended up driving Pat's car back to my house and then Jeff drove Pat home. All in all I had a great night and met some pretty awesome people!

My father invested in a ping pong table which obviously will be used for another game :) I am looking forward to the weekend of December 28 because me and some friends will def. be putting that table to good use (Amanda, naked bonding time haha)!  More to come on this a little later!

Well the bell just rang which means the peace and quiet will be ending momentarally. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!!!!

~EM~

Sorry it has been while since I've updated.Teaching has kept me really busy.

I went to WVWC's homecoming and had a blast. I ended up staying at Tim's since he had taken the weekend off from work, and drove back and forth to Wesleyan. Not only did I get to see Tim, Matt, Jeremy, Bri, Josh, my brother, etc, but other alumni such as Mandy and David, Spencer, and Corey. Katie also drove from Morgantown to hang out and we all had a lot of fun. I attended the education alumni "luncheon" which was nice. I got to see a lot of my old friends and teachers. The weekend def. went by way to fast. I just hope we will all be able to see each other again soon.

Teaching is going better then I thought it would. Even though I have a few students (mostly boys) who try to test me, I can honestly say that I love my kids and enjoy teaching them about world history (even if some of it find it kind of boring). I also teach with a great group of teachers who have offered me advice whenever I needed it. There hasn't been a day yet where I have woken up and thought "I don't want to go to school today." Hopefully that feeling wont go away anytime soon.

Speaking of teaching, I just signed a new teacher contract that puts an extra 1,000 dollars in my pocket. The deal is that if I signed it, I agreed to teach in Harford County for three years (the cool this is that I am almost halfway through my first year). If I break the contract then I just have to pay the money back. This just means that instead of reevaluating my life in two years it will be three (aka. deciding whether or not I want to stay here or move back to WV).

Halloween was fun. Ann called me and asked me if I would take the girls trick or treating. I was very excited considering the last time I took them out on Halloween was the year before I went away to college (Kaelyn was 7 and Payton was 3). We had a fun time and even had Amanda join us (for those of you who don't know, Amanda and I use to be attached at the hip in elementary school until we had a huge falling out. Now 11 years later we are beginning to talk again. It is like we were able to pick up right where we left off!!

For those who keep asking, yes Jeff and I are still talking. Due to the fact that we both have no lives during the week we only catch up on the weekends (which is actually working out pretty well). We shall see what happens!

I am trying to plan out my spring break since teachers get 10 days off! I am trying to convince Erin to come with me to visit Brit in China. Apparently she lives only 2 hours from the Great Wall of China and if we visited her we'd have a free place to stay and free entry into the Disney park :) Erin is just worried about the jet lag but I hope she will realize how great an opportunity this is and say yes!!!

Shout outs, for those of you who still read this:

Erik: I hope things are going well for you. I want to come visit so let me know what weekends you are free. I am not use to going this long without seeing my E!

Xina: I am glad to hear you like your job. I def. want to get down to see you soon so let me know your schedule. I need a weekend of wild partying and relaxation haha.

Tim: I know I talk to you on a regular basis but I just I would say hi so Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

Manda: I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!! What has been going on in your life? Anything wild and exciting? Give me a call sometime.

Bri: I can't believe that BITCH. My mom wanted to know who the card was from. I just told her to throw it out and that it was too long of a story. Give all my brothers hugs for me ok? I MISS MY BRI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next time I visit we will have to spend more time together.

Well I guess that is all for now!
